9 Day Coast to Coast Drive

Style: Self-Drive

Day 1: Anchorage

Arrive in Anchorage and pick up your car rental and enjoy the evening at leisure.

Day 2: Anchorage

Alaska's largest city offers an amazing array of activities to choose from.

Day 3: Anchorage – Denali (4 hours)

While we can't promise or predict when wildlife will show, the tour allows plenty of opportunities to look for Dall sheep, moose, caribou, wolves, and grizzly bears. On days when Denali (Mt. McKinley) is visible, it may be possible to travel to Stony Hill Overlook (another eight miles down the road) and view the entire mountain from base to summit.

Day 4: Denali National Park

Sure to be a trip highlight, Denali is home to North America's tallest peak (Mt. McKinley 20320 ft).

Day 5: Denali – Fairbanks (2 hours)

Continue along the last leg of Alaska Highway. A visit to the University of Alaska Museum is a must. Creamers Field is also worth a visit; sandhill cranes and the rare whooping crane feed the field in summer.

Day 6: Fairbanks

Day at leisure.

Day 7: Fairbanks – Tok (3½ hours)

An easy drive along the famous Alaska Highway. Stunning views to West of Kluane and Wrangell St. Elias National Parks.

Day 8: Tok – Kluane National Park (6½ hours)

As you approach Kluane National Park, the frontal ranges begin to appear, giving you a taste of what lies ahead. Optional tours and activities this afternoon (flightseeing, hiking, rafting, etc. available). Home to Canada's tallest mountain (Mt. Logan) and the world's largest ice fields (non-polar), Kluane, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the country's most impressive national parks

Day 9: Kluane National Park – Whitehorse (2 hours)

Stroll along the Yukon River's edge, visit the SS Klondike National Historic Site.
