13 Day Western Canada Discovered

Style: Self-Drive

Day 1: Vancouver – Whistler (2 hours)

Drive along the scenic Sea-to-Sky Highway towards Whistler. Stopover at Shannon Falls and Garibaldi Provincial Park. Arriving in Whistler, the village is conveniently located at the base of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. A gateway to a range of exciting activities that include mountain biking, hiking, and golf in the summer.

The village is linked by the village stroll, a pedestrian-only causeway lined with shops, restaurants, cafes, and hotels. This afternoon we have included a Peak 2 Peak gondola ride and admission to Squamish Lil'wat cultural center.

Day 2: Whistler Activity

Choose today between a zip trek ecotour, ATV tour, white-water rafting, horseback ride or scenic valley bike tour.

Day 3: Whistler – Sun Peaks Resort (5 hours)

While traveling through the mountains along the Duffy Lake Road you will leave the wet coastal forests and abruptly enter the rain shadow of British Columbia's interior. Hardy pine trees and sagebrush replace the towering fir trees of the west coast.

Day 4: Sun Peaks Resort – Blue River (2¾ hours)

Today paddle an authentic voyageur canoe around the local lakes of Sun Peaks Resort. The lakes are home to resident osprey, bald eagles, loons, beaver, moose, bear, and even cougars all of which are frequently spotted. Or you may wish to explore the area on an offroad segway tour, cross country bike tour, or guided hiking tour.

Day 5: Blue River – Jasper (2½ hours)

Travel towards the Canadian Rockies and stop at Blue River where you will board a specially designed jet boat for a smooth but exciting one-hour River Safari. Enjoy a meal in River Safari's floating restaurant before continuing your drive past Mount Robson with the highest peak in Western Canada and on to Jasper. Included to use at your leisure is a Jasper SkyTram pass for your elevation ride to the top of Whistler's Mountain.

Day 6: Jasper Activity

Jasper National Park is located amidst the most beautiful wilderness of the Rocky Mountains. Explore the area today on a thrilling one-hour sidecar motorcycle tour before visiting Maligne Canyon and the glacier-fed Maligne Lake where you will join a cruise to Spirit Island.

Day 7: Jasper – Lake Louise – Banff (4 hours)

One of the world's greatest mountain highways, the Icefields Parkway offers outstanding viewpoints and wildlife observation. At the mighty Columbia Icefield we have included an Ice Explorer ride onto the Athabasca Glacier and a Glacier skywalk pass for an awe-inspiring experience.

Day 8: Banff Sightseeing

Banff National Park offers spectacular mountain scenery and many attractions. We suggest visiting Bow Falls, the Hoodoos, and Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. We have included a gondola ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain for use at your leisure. In the evening join a guided evening wildlife tour. Discover the challenges of protecting animals and their habitat in Banff National Park.

Day 9: Banff – Emerald Lake Lodge (1½ hours)

Travel the scenic Bow Valley Parkway, which allows great photo stops for mountain scenery, waterfalls, and wildlife. Stop at Johnston Canyon where you can take a walk through the limestone rock, sheer canyon walls, waterfalls, and tunnels. Emerald Lake Lodge offers 24 cabin-style buildings surrounding the lake is a true wilderness escape.

Day 10: Emerald Lake Lodge at leisure

Spend your day at leisure exploring the beautiful Emerald Lake Lodge.

Day 11: Emerald Lake Lodge – Kelowna (5 hours)

Make a stop in Kicking Horse and take in a scenic gondola ride and a rafting excursion before continuing on to Kelowna. The Okanagan Valley is the ideal destination for wine lovers and freshwater-sport enthusiasts. Kelowna, on the eastern shore of the Okanagan Lake, offers a variety of boating and outdoor recreation. Orchards and vineyards are just a short drive from the downtown core.

Day 12: Okanagan at leisure

Enjoy the warm weather and sandy beaches as you explore the Okanagan Valley. You may visit Penticton, located at the southern end of the deep blue Okanagan Lake. Stop en-route at one of the many farmer's markets and wineries along the lake.

Day 13: Kelowna – Vancouver (4 hours)

Your journey will end in Vancouver, surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and nestled alongside the Coast Mountain Range.
