Small-Group Morning Kayak Tour and Breakfast in Halifax Georges lighthouse kayak Jump-start your day with this 4-hour kayaking adventure in Halifax. Make your way to the visitor information centre, and then receive a safety briefing from your certified kayak guide. Never kayaked before? No worries — you’ll cruise along in a stable ocean kayak, and this tour with instruction provided is suitable for all levels. Set off after your guide and paddle the length of the boardwalk, from Pier 21 to the dockyards, home of the Canadian East Coast Navy. See stalactites as you steer under piers, and pass sailboats, the Canadian Navy Fleet, warships from the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, and sites such as Purdy’s Wharf and Casino Nova Scotia. Your guide will get you as close as possible to a site that’s off-limits to the public — Georges Island, a Canadian National Historic site that houses a lighthouse and a fort. Learn about the island prison and mass deportations, along with tales of buccaneers, pirates, prohibition-era rum-runners, public hangings and more. After kayaking, head to the Seaport Market for a delicious, well-earned rooftop breakfast, and enjoy the accompanying views of the harbor and city skyline.
